Jet2.com delay compensation: check your flight against the record
Jet2.com is a UK carrier. Flights out of the UK are covered by UK261 whatever the destination, and flights into the UK are covered too, from anywhere in the world.
Enter the flight number and date. We pull the actual arrival time, the Eurocontrol air-traffic delay logged at both airports that day and the airport weather, then tell you whether Jet2 owes you £220, £350 or £520 per passenger and how strong the airline's likely defence is.
Typical Jet2 routes
| Route | Distance | Per passenger |
|---|---|---|
| Manchester to Palma | 1,490 km | £220 |
| Leeds Bradford to Tenerife South | 3,140 km | £350 |
| Birmingham to Antalya | 3,010 km | £350 |
| Stansted to Faro | 1,780 km | £350 |
Bands: up to 1,500 km £220 / €250; 1,500 to 3,500 km £350 / €400; over 3,500 km £520 / €600 (halved for a 3 to 4 hour long-haul delay).
What to know about claiming from Jet2
- Jet2.com is a UK carrier flying almost entirely from UK airports, so nearly every Jet2 flight is a UK261 claim in sterling. Return legs from the EU into the UK are also covered because Jet2 is a UK carrier.
- The distance bands bite on Jet2's network: Manchester to Palma is just under 1,500 km (£220) while Manchester to Malaga is over it (£350). The check uses the exact great-circle distance.
- Jet2 lost the leading UK case on technical faults (Huzar v Jet2.com, 2014), which is why 'unexpected technical problem' is not a defence to a Jet2 claim.
If Jet2 refuses or does not answer within 8 weeks: This airline is not on the CAA's list of airlines signed up to an ADR scheme, so for a UK flight the CAA's Passenger Advice and Complaints Team (PACT) is the free route. PACT can take the complaint up with the airline but, unlike an ADR scheme, cannot make a binding decision. The small claims court remains open.
You can claim from Jet2 for free.
Use the claim page above and a free template from the CAA, Which? or MoneySavingExpert. Our £4.99 letter adds the verified flight record and the day's delay and weather evidence, which is what you will need if Jet2 replies with “extraordinary circumstances”. Claims firms charge 35% to 50% of the payout for the same claim.
Jet2 compensation questions
Answers people search for
How much is Jet2 delay compensation?
£220 per passenger for flights up to 1,500 km and £350 for 1,500 to 3,500 km, for arrival delays of 3 hours or more within Jet2's control. Jet2 package holiday flights count the same as flight-only bookings.
Does a Jet2 package holiday change my rights?
No. UK261 compensation applies to the flight regardless of how it was booked. Package Travel Regulations rights sit alongside it for the holiday as a whole, but the flight claim goes to Jet2.com as the operating carrier.
Jet2 said the delay was a technical fault. Can they refuse?
No. The Court of Appeal decided in Huzar v Jet2.com [2014] EWCA Civ 791 that ordinary technical problems are inherent in running an airline and are not extraordinary circumstances.
Who handles Jet2 disputes?
Jet2 is not on the CAA's list of airlines signed up to an ADR scheme. For a UK flight the free route is the CAA's Passenger Advice and Complaints Team, after Jet2's final response or 8 weeks without one. PACT can take the complaint up with Jet2 but cannot make a binding decision, so the small claims court is the backstop.
